There are numerous benefits of getting search engine traffic which leads to the overall development of your blog.

Submitting Sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools

The process is very easy and a beginner will take only some couple of minutes for submitting sitemap to GWT. Lets start…

Step 1: Go to your Google Webmaster Tools Dashboard.

Step 2:  Now you will see all your blogs. Click on the blog whose sitemap you want to submit.

Step 3: Now you will see some graphs and charts on your screen. On the left sidebar, click on the “ Sitemap “.

Step 4: Then if you have submitted you sitemap previously then you can see your results there. But if you don’t have submitted sitemap yet then click on “ ADD/TEST SITEMAP “ located on the top right section of the page.

Step 5: Then a text box will appear like below. Copy and paste above code in this text box and click on “ Submit Sitemap ” and you are all done.

Now sit back and let the Google bots do their work.

You can customize the above sitemap code as per your requirement. If you have 500 or less no of posts then you don’t need any modification but if you have more than 500 posts then you will have to modify this as per your blog posts.

No of Posts Sitemap
1 - 500 atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500
500 - 1000 atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=500&max-results=1000
1000 - 1500 atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1000&max-results=1500
1500 - 2000 atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1500&max-results=2000

and so on if you have 10000 posts then set your “max-results” to 10000.

Note:-  The above mention sitemap code is valid for blogger blogs only. If you have another blog then copy your sitemap URL and paste there without your domain name. Ex:- Let my domain is www.xyz.com and my sitemap URL is www.xyz.com/sitemap.xml then i will paste only sitemap.xml and click on Submit Sitemap.
